The El Camino Healthcare District Board of Directors announced it will grant more than $6.3 million to local organizations in fiscal year 2015 through its Community Benefit Program. The program funds organizations that address the unmet health needs in the El Camino Healthcare District, which includes Mountain View, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Sunnyvale, and a portion of Cupertino.

Each year, the El Camino Healthcare District sets aside a substantial portion of the property taxes collected to support the Community Benefit Program. The funds are invested in programs that provide vulnerable populations access to critical health services that may not otherwise be available. Funding partners include school districts, nonprofit organizations, safety-net clinics and government programs that serve residents who live, work, or go to school in the District.

The El Camino Healthcare District Community Benefit Program will grant more than $6.3 million in four key priority areas: healthcare access, mental health, healthy eating and physical activity, and community health education.

  • The District will invest over $3.5 million to help the underserved access healthcare services they need, including funding safety-net clinics, school nurses, and transportation to and from medical appointments.

  • Mental health programs will receive more than $700,000 to ensure interventions, counseling and psychiatric treatments are available to those who need services.

  • More than $250,000 will go to programs that emphasize healthy eating and physical activity, and lower the risk of obesity among children.

  • Community health education programs will also receive over $1 million to deliver culturally sensitive health education and improve health literacy.

”El Camino Healthcare District's core mission is to fund services that improve the health of our community in measurably impactful ways," said Patricia Einarson, MD, MBA, chair of the El Camino Healthcare District Board of Directors. "We are honored to support our community partners and acknowledge their significant contributions to the community.”

The fiscal year 2015 grants reflect El Camino Healthcare District's commitment to make meaningful investments that will help individuals in our community get the care they need and fund programs and activities that contribute to the health and well-being of the community. Additional information about the funding priorities and opportunities for future funding are available on El Camino Healthcare District website.
