April 17, 2017 – On Monday, May 15, 2017, the El Camino Healthcare District Board will hold a Special District Board meeting at 5:30 p.m. to consider making changes to the El Camino Hospital Board structure. Nygren Consulting, a firm specializing in governance, strategy and leadership development, will present alternative governance models for discussion, public input, and a possible vote of the District Board.
The proposed governance models aim to achieve the following goals:
- Provide for the organization’s long-term sustainability
- Strengthen the competency composition and relevant experience of the Hospital Board
- Attract and retain top talent in the Hospital executive team
- Deliver on the organization’s mission and vision to advance the health of our community
Governance model scenarios include a Hospital Board where 3 or 5 District Directors would be seated on a Hospital Board with a total of either 9 or 11 members. Three alternative governance models, outlined below, are under consideration. In all three models, the El Camino Healthcare District retains its reserved rights, which allow District publicly elected members to fulfill their fiduciary duties.
The District Board wants to hear what community members think of the current and proposed governance models. Please submit your comments via mail, email, phone or fax.
Comments will be accepted up to and during the District Board meeting.
Anyone interested in attending the Special District Board meeting and participating in the public comment portion of the agenda is encouraged to do so.
