El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) Governance

Organization

The El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) is a governmental entity formed pursuant to The Local Health Care District Law (California Health and Safety Code Section 32000 et. seq.). It is separate from El Camino Hospital. ECHD is governed by a Board of five publicly elected directors. These representatives, acting as a Board, oversee the activities of ECHD, exercising certain retained authority over El Camino Hospital and determine the use of tax revenue for community benefit programs and other uses.

El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) Role

The ECHD is organized and operates pursuant to state law like every other public agency. It is governed by a five member Board of Directors who stand for election every four years and must reside in the District.

The ECHD Board is responsible for ensuring the District’s mission is accomplished and for providing public oversight of District’s business affairs.

Each year, the El Camino Healthcare District's Community Benefit Program provides grants to non-profits, school districts, and government-funded programs that serve individuals who live, work, or go to school in the District. Click here to view a map of the District.
