El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) Sponsorship Program

El Camino Healthcare District supports relevant community organizations that impact the health and well-being of District residents through its sponsorship program.

Sponsorship Criteria

Requesting organizations should align with one of the following Health Priorities:

  • Healthy Body
  • Healthy Mind
  • Healthy Community

Distribution of District Funding

Property taxes paid by District residents are used only for repayment of general obligation bonds, certain capital expenditures within the geographic boundaries of the El Camino Healthcare District, community benefit grants and sponsorships benefitting the El Camino Healthcare District and administrative expenses incurred by the District.

An annual audit is published to provide financial transparency. Funding distribution information is also available online.

El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) Structure

El Camino Healthcare District is the sole corporate member of the El Camino Hospital Corporation. There are four (4) entities affiliated with El Camino Hospital: El Camino Hospital Foundation, CONCERN: Employee Assistance Program, Silicon Valley Medical Development, LLC, and El Camino Surgery Center, LLC. El Camino Hospital operates the hospital campuses.

A service review is a standard review conducted every five years to better understand the public service structure, ensure that health services are being efficiently and effectively provided in the District and also affirm that the District is still carrying out its purpose.

The agenda for each regular meeting of the El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) Board of Directors includes an item for public communication. During this time, an opportunity is provided for persons in the audience to make a brief statement to the ECHD Board, not to exceed three minutes, on issues or concerns within the jurisdiction of the ECHD Board but not otherwise covered by the agenda.

The ECHD Board of Directors is composed of five publicly elected or appointed representatives. The District has no employees, relying upon staff provided under an agreement with El Camino Hospital. Under that agreement, the hospital provides to the District its Chief Executive Officer and its Chief Financial Officer.

El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) Mission

The mission of the District shall be to establish, maintain and operate, or provide assistance in the operation of one or more health facilities (as that term is defined in the California Health and Safety Code Section 1250) or health services at any location within or without the territorial limits of the District, for the benefit of the District and the people served by the District, and to undertake any and all other acts necessary to carry out the provisions of the District’s Bylaws and the Local Health Care District Law.
